Esthetic dentistry

Esthetic restorations are mainly used in the area of the front teeth. Thanks to esthetic restorations dental defects occurred due to caries, trauma, teeth wear etc. can be restored. These restorations are also used to adjust the color and the form of the front teeth.

After assessing patient’s dental condition dentist selects the best strategy to restore dental esthetics. It is the best if these defects can be restored with filling materials (Picture 1.). Unfortunately, if the defects are larger or require much correction of teeth shape or position, the esthetic dental defects can be restored in all-ceramic prosthesis: inlays, onlays, crowns and veneers.

All-ceramic dentures can be made from different kinds of ceramics: fieldspar ceramic, glass ceramic and zirconia ceramics. The transparency and strength vary: the most transparent and the most aesthetic are fieldspathic ceramics (Picture 2). The least transparent and the strongest are zirconia ceramics (Picture 3.). ProDentum clinic specializes in esthetic restorations with all kinds of ceramic materials, which enables to achieve good esthetic results.

At the beginning of the treatment, in order show the patient planned shape of the restorations, the wax-up is performed on dental casts and tested in the patient’s mouth (Picture 4). In this way, the patient will find it easier to imagine a future prosthetic result. ProDentum clinic uses digital technologies, which enable to plan virtually the form of the restoration and to communicate the treatment plan with the patient and the laboratory (Picture 5).

Dental esthetics is highly influenced by the marginal gingival line, smile line, the lips and teeth, and the ratio of certain facial characteristics. Therefore, esthetic prosthesis may need to be combined with other methods of treatment – orthodontic treatments, periodontal plastic surgery and so on.

Teeth and smile esthetic analysis, testing, treatment planning will be provided by highly qualified prosthodontists.
