Ceramic veneers

Ceramic veneers

Veneers are very thin (from 0.2 mm) ceramic plates that cover the outer surfaces of natural teeth.

Ceramic veneers are one of the main ways to create a smile that is pleasing to the patient and their loved ones. Veneers are very thin (from 0.2 mm) ceramic plates that cover the outer surfaces of natural teeth. The thin ceramic veneers absorb, reflect and refract light just like natural tooth enamel. Veneers can be used to correct tooth shade, shape, length and position deficiencies. Veneers are custom-made for each patient, after a thorough examination and planning in the laboratory. The main advantages of veneers are natural appearance and the best aesthetics; they are resilient, long-lasting, resistant to wear, they allow to save the natural tissue of the tooth, because only a slight reduction of tooth surfaces is done; the ceramic is resistant to plaque and bacterial accumulation. Restoration using veneers is a difficult procedure that requires great accuracy and teamwork. ProDentum is exceptional, because we have an in-house dental laboratory, therefore communication between the clinician and the laboratory, where the ceramic restorations are made, is always close and allows us to achieve the best results in the shortest amount of time. Also, in the clinic we use digital planning and treatment technologies, which allow us to reduce the number of visits, plan more accurately, and provide quicker and more comfortable treatment for the patient.

Veneers are thin and allow the light through, therefore correcting a very dark tooth color may be difficult. They have better longevity, compared to cosmetic bonding, because the bonding needs to be periodically polished or corrected; on the other hand, veneers maintain their aesthetic properties. For patients with severely damaged teeth or with parafunctional habits (clenching, grinding, etc.), veneers may be contra-indicated. If the personal oral hygiene is sufficient, professional tooth cleaning is done regularly, the patient wears their night guard, avoids biting very hard products and follows the doctor’s recommendations, the veneers last a very long time.
